Laurasia is a 15-piece rock band from Vaasa. The concept of the band is to organize spectacles which cross artistic boundaries.
The band was founded in 2008, and its character can be described by the fact that many of the band members earn a living in the theater industry.
In 2009, an association called Laurasia r.y. was registered to support the band's activity.
The band's first production, An Evening with Rock & Metal Classics, attracted altogether 2000 people to listen to the collaboration between a rockband, a choir and an orchestra as a part of the XIV Vaasa Choir Festival in 2009.
The megalomaniac production brought together 40 musicians from different backgrounds for this extravaganza which successfully brought down numerous musical barriers.
The series of six concerts also produced an encore as a part of the Vaasa Night of the Arts in August 2009, due to popular demand.

LAURASIA BREAK-IN!
After the Choir Festival's 6 concerts in may 2009 and an extra show on Art's Night, Laurasia withdrew to think about new concerts, a fresh concept, style and assembly.
We came to the conclusion that in our new concert there will not be an orchestra, not that it wouldn't have worked! The orchestra was great but now we want to concentrate on the choir. Lift up their expertise and versatility.
